Proud to be Sri Lanka’s most trusted hospital for compassionate and quality healthcare

Our central diagnostic laboratory is a NABL-accredited (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) facility processing over 1,200 samples daily across 6 specialized sections: Clinical Biochemistry (blood glucose, liver/kidney/thyroid function tests, lipid profile, cardiac enzymes), Hematology (complete blood count, coagulation studies, peripheral smear, HbA1c), Clinical Pathology (urine analysis, stool examination, semen analysis, body fluids), Microbiology (bacterial cultures & sensitivity, Gram stains, tuberculosis testing, fungal cultures), Serology & Immunology (HIV, HBsAg, HCV, dengue, malaria, typhoid, autoimmune markers), and Molecular Biology (COVID-19 RT-PCR, viral load testing for hepatitis & HIV, genetic testing). We use fully automated analyzers from Beckman Coulter, Roche, and Siemens - reducing manual errors to near zero. All critical results (e.g., dangerously high potassium, low hemoglobin, positive blood cultures) trigger immediate phone alerts to your doctor, not just a printed report. Our turnaround times average 2 hours for routine tests, 4 hours for cultures (preliminary), and 24 hours for molecular tests.
Laboratory excellence at our facility is built on three pillars: accuracy, speed, and patient comfort. We maintain extremely high accuracy standards verified through participation in external quality assurance programs. We use barcoded sample tracking - every tube is scanned at collection, centrifugation, analysis, and verification for complete chain of custody. For pediatric and geriatric patients, we offer butterfly needles and topical anesthesia spray to minimize pain. Our phlebotomists are trained in difficult draws. We maintain strict cold chain for unstable analytes. Patients receive reports via secure digital delivery, and our pathologist provides free interpretation guidance explaining what abnormal values mean in plain English, not medical jargon.
Preparation guidelines: For fasting tests, fast as directed. For lipid profile, avoid heavy fatty meals beforehand. For creatinine, avoid eating cooked meat beforehand. For stool examination, collect sample in a sterile container provided by us. For urine culture, collect "mid-stream clean catch" after cleaning the genital area. For 24-hour urine collection, follow the specific instructions provided. Patients on chronic medications should inform the phlebotomist. Home sample collection is available for senior citizens and mobility-impaired patients. We offer "Stat" emergency processing for ICU and emergency department patients. Monthly health checkup packages are available at discounted rates.
