Proud to be Sri Lanka’s most trusted hospital for compassionate and quality healthcare

Our fertility center offers a complete range of assisted reproductive technologies for couples struggling with infertility. We provide compassionate, evidence-based care starting with the least invasive options and progressing to advanced technologies only when indicated. Our services include Fertility Evaluation with semen analysis for male factor, ovarian reserve testing including AMH and antral follicle count, hormone testing, ultrasound for structural abnormalities, hysterosalpingography for fallopian tube patency, diagnostic hysteroscopy, and genetic screening. Ovulation Induction uses oral medications with ultrasound monitoring and timed intercourse. Intrauterine Insemination or IUI involves prepared sperm being placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation, bypassing cervical mucus and shortening the sperm's journey. This procedure is indicated for mild male factor, unexplained infertility, cervical factor, or donor sperm. The procedure takes only minutes and is generally painless with only mild cramping possible. In Vitro Fertilization or IVF involves eggs being retrieved from the ovaries under sedation, fertilized with sperm in our embryology laboratory, and resulting embryos transferred to the uterus several days later. IVF is indicated for blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, severe male factor, endometriosis, ovulation disorders, unexplained infertility after failed IUI, or advanced maternal age. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection or ICSI involves a single sperm being injected directly into each mature egg using micromanipulation. This is used for severe male factor including low count, poor motility, or abnormal morphology; previous failed IVF fertilization; or when using frozen or testicular sperm. Preimplantation Genetic Testing screens embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer, reducing miscarriage risk and increasing success, especially for women over a certain age or those with recurrent pregnancy loss. Egg, Sperm, and Embryo Freezing uses vitrification which is ultra-rapid freezing achieving excellent survival rates for fertility preservation including for cancer patients before chemotherapy, women delaying childbearing, or banking embryos from a single IVF cycle for future attempts. We offer Donor Egg, Sperm, and Embryo Programs for couples with no viable gametes. Frozen Embryo Transfer uses embryos from previous cycles without needing another egg retrieval. Our IVF laboratory is a cleanroom with advanced filtration systems, temperature and humidity monitoring, and time-lapse embryo monitoring systems that allow continuous observation of embryo development without disturbing them.
What makes our fertility service exceptional is our personalized approach and laboratory excellence. We understand that every fertility journey is unique, and we tailor treatment plans to each couple's specific diagnosis, preferences, and values. Our embryology laboratory maintains gold-standard environmental conditions with continuous monitoring. Our embryo culture media and incubation systems are state-of-the-art. Our fertility specialists are board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, with years of experience in all aspects of assisted reproduction. We maintain transparent communication throughout treatment - you will understand every step, every medication, and every decision. We offer genetic counseling for couples considering preimplantation genetic testing. For those using donor gametes, we provide comprehensive donor screening and counseling. We have dedicated fertility nurses who coordinate your cycle, answer questions at any time, and provide emotional support. We understand that fertility treatment can be emotionally challenging, so we offer counseling services and support groups. Our success rates are tracked transparently and reported accurately. We treat all patients with dignity regardless of relationship status, sexual orientation, or family structure. We also offer fertility preservation counseling for cancer patients before they begin treatments that might affect their fertility.
Before starting fertility treatment, both partners undergo comprehensive evaluation including semen analysis for the male partner and ovarian reserve testing, hormonal assessment, and structural evaluation of the uterus and fallopian tubes for the female partner. For IUI cycles, you will take oral medications for several days followed by ultrasound monitoring to track follicle development. When follicles reach the appropriate size, a trigger shot is administered to induce ovulation. The IUI procedure is performed approximately one to two days later. The procedure itself takes only moments and you can return to normal activities immediately afterward. A pregnancy test is performed about two weeks later. For IVF cycles, you will take injectable medications for about one to two weeks to stimulate your ovaries to develop multiple eggs. You will have frequent ultrasound and blood tests to monitor your response. When follicles are ready, you receive a trigger shot and egg retrieval is scheduled 36 hours later. Egg retrieval is performed under sedation and takes about 20-30 minutes. You go home the same day. The eggs are fertilized with sperm in the laboratory, and embryos develop over the next several days. Embryo transfer is performed on day three or day five, is painless, and takes only minutes. A pregnancy test is performed about two weeks after transfer. For frozen embryo transfers, you take medications to prepare your uterine lining, then thawed embryos are transferred. For egg freezing, the process is similar to the first part of an IVF cycle up through egg retrieval, but instead of fertilizing the eggs, they are frozen for future use. Throughout treatment, our nurses are available to answer questions, provide injection teaching, and offer support. We recommend stress reduction techniques, adequate sleep, good nutrition, and moderate exercise during treatment cycles. We also provide counseling about the emotional aspects of fertility treatment and resources for support.
